About Us

Ambry Acres – Rooted in Family, Farm and Canadian Heritage

Our farm was established in 1972 when The Ward Family moved to Glengarry County. Ambry Acres was born in 1983 and is now transitioning onto the fourth generation of farming.

Bryan and Tyler

Welcome to Ambry Acres, where we raise our sheep and cattle with care, tap our maple trees in spring, and craft natural products that reflect the values we live by: integrity, sustainability, and connection to place.

We’re a multi-generational farm committed to raising healthy animals and producing high-quality food and goods. Our sheep are raised in a confinement system that allows us to closely monitor their health and well-being. They’re fed a balanced diet of hay, corn, and barley through every stage of life. Our cattle graze outdoors with access to the barn and are fed corn silage and pasture hay, depending on the season. In early spring, we produce pure maple syrup, which often sells out before the last snow melts.

We believe that small farms like ours are at the heart of strong communities and lasting traditions. Every product we sell – from freezer lamb to wool blankets – is an extension of that belief.

We operate a diversified operation in the following areas:

  1. Cow/calf Operation with future direct sales of finished beef to customers
  2. Maple Syrup Production and Sales
  3. Chicken Meat and Egg Production Sold at our Farm Gate
  4. Sheep Operation Producing Lambs and Wool Blankets
  5. Cash Crop Operation
  6. Custom Field Work

A Legacy Woven in Wool

Our farm story doesn’t begin with us. It stretches back to Georgetown, PEI, in the early 1800’s – where Andrew Archibald MacDonald, our great-great-great-uncle, was born.

A.A. MacDonald would go on to become one of the Fathers of Confederation, representing Prince Edward Island at the Charlottetown Conference of 1864, where the foundation of Canada was laid. Though PEI initially chose not to join Confederation, it did so in 1873 – and MacDonald remained a prominent leader, later serving as Lieutenant Governor of PEI.

His family home in Georgetown still stands and we’re proud to say that it’s still in our family’s care today. Preserving this historic home is one way we keep his story alive, and it has become a symbol of everything we value: roots, resilience, and responsibility.

When we decided to launch our line of 100% wool blankets, we knew we wanted to honour that legacy. That’s why we chose to have our wool milled and blankets produced at the historic wool mill in Prince Edward Island. By doing so, we’ve created a full-circle story:

  • Wool raised on our farm
  • Processed on the island where our ancestor helped build the nation
  • Crafted into blankets that bring warmth, history, and Canadian craftmanship into your home

Each blanket is a tangible piece of that legacy – soft, sustainable, and proudly made in Canada.

From Our Farm to Your Home

Whether you’re cozying up under one of our wool blankets, enjoying a roast from our lamb or beef, or pouring fresh maple syrup over your pancakes, we hope you feel the care and connection woven into every part of Ambry Acres.

Thank you for being part of our story and for supporting small, sustainable, Canadian farming.
