Raising Beef

Locally Raised Beef

Ambry Acres has been raising Beef cattle in a traditional style since 1972. Consequently, they are not confined.

As a result of the introduction of cover crops; our farmland grows feed in a sustainable manner.

We raise Pure Bred Herefords, Commercial Charlais and Black Angus Beef.  We operate a cow/calf operation and finish select steers to market as freezer beef.  Ambry Acres accepts bulk orders of quarters, halves or whole beef; plus individual cuts.

Why Eat Our Beef?

Beef Kabobs with green peppers, red onions and cherry tomatoes

We take pride in raising our animals and we care about their well-being.  Time throughout the seasons is spent ensuring pastures are fenced to keep the herd safe.

Animals are tracked and a herd health plan is in place. This allows us to work closely with our veterinary ensuring best practices are in place while raising healthy beef.

We raise our cattle with care.

Our cattle are happy.

Raised hormone free

We raise all our own cattle from birth to finished weight on local feed. This lets us make sure everything is done right.

First, our beef cattle are raised without hormones and growth implants. Second, antibiotics are used on farm only if an animal gets sick; similarly as the doctor prescribes you antibiotics whenever you are sick. Resulting in a mandatory withdrawal time which is respected to be certain there is no trace of medicine in their system when an animal is being sent for processing. Third, Industry guidelines mandate that every antibiotic has a withdrawal period of 30 – 45 days in which the animal has to stay on farm and cannot be processed.

Quality Feed Makes Quality Beef

Round bale of hay in field

We feed dry hay, balage, and oatlage during the winter months.

Cattle eat forage for most of their lives by grazing out in pasture during the summer months. and, as feed when pasture is under snow in the winter.

Grain including barley and corn is fed during winter months ensuring the cattle have sufficient energy for growth.
