Warmth With a Story.
Crafted in Prince Edward Island. Rooted in the Birth of Canada.
Beneath every Ambry Acres wool blanket lies a story — not just of sheep and stitches, but of a country’s beginning. As a direct descendant of A.A. Macdonald, one of the Fathers of Confederation, we’ve created a line of wool blankets that honour the Island where Canada was born — and the family legacy that helped shape it.
Though our sheep are lovingly raised on our farm in Ontario, each blanket is milled in PEI, at a local mill chosen not for convenience, but for connection — to history, to craft, and to home.
🧶 Our Heritage Connection
✨ A.A. MacDonald: Our Family, Your History
From Confederation to Craft – A Family Legacy Woven into Every Blanket
In the summer of 1864, a small group of visionaries gathered in Charlottetown with a bold idea: to unite the provinces and form a new nation. Among them was A.A. Macdonald, a prominent Island politician — and my great-great-great uncle.

He wasn’t just a participant; he was a builder. A.A. Macdonald played a pivotal role in the shaping of Canada, later serving as Premier of Prince Edward Island, a Senator, and the Lieutenant Governor. His home still stands in Georgetown, PEI — a proud reminder of the Island’s place in Canadian history, and a home still owned by our family. Built in 1835.
At Ambry Acres, we honour this legacy not through speeches or plaques, but through wool — a material that connects people across generations. Our blankets are more than cozy layers; they’re a tangible tribute to a man whose decisions helped shape a country. Every thread carries the spirit of PEI’s role in Confederation and the heritage of a family that continues to call the Island home.
🐑 Milled in PEI by Choice — Not Chance
We could have processed our wool in Ontario. But we didn’t.
We chose PEI on purpose — to honour where our roots run deep.
Our blankets are:
- Farmed in Ontario, but milled in PEI
- Designed to reflect the sea, skies, and soil of the Island
- Made in partnership with a skilled PEI mill, supporting local craft and tradition
This is more than a product — it’s a cultural connection.
🎨 Colours of a Nation, Inspired by the Island
Each Heritage Collection blanket is named and coloured with meaning:

Red & Natural White – Reflecting the Panmure Island Light House and the Canadian flag, celebrating Canada’s founding.

Black Tweed & Natural White Stripes – A tribute to A.A. Macdonald’s black top hat.
A symbol of the heritage and history that helped shape Canada’s Confederation.
