Get the Recipe on How to Make an Easy Homemade Burger using Farm Fresh Beef! Let’s get something straight right off the start! A hamburger in our household is made with ground beef! Beef patties contain fresh boneless beef, no fillers or binding agents. Ground burgers contain fresh beef trimmings from a particular primal (e.g., chuck or sirloin).
Sunshine brings out the BBQ and the BBQ brings on the Burgers…
Making a hamburger is an easy task however cooking it seems to be a challenge at times. Use a digital instant read thermometer to confidently grill hamburgers that are juicy and cooked every time. It takes away the guess work and you will build the reputation of being a great grill master with your family and friends! I just tried this myself the other day and my family was pleasantly impressed because I tend to over-cook them especially on the BBQ.
“Ground beef burgers are done when they are no longer pink inside is a Myth.
Truth: Several factors can affect the color of ground beef causing it to remain pink even when fully cooked. The reliable way to know your burgers are cooked is to check the internal temperature with a digital instant read thermometer. Ground beef burgers are done when the thermometer reads 160 degrees F”

Tips for perfect burgers
- Mix and form beef patties using a light hand; don’t over-handle
- Burgers puff up as they cook. To prevent this, make a thumbprint indent into the center of the patty before cooking.
- Rub grill with oil before cooking to prevent sticking
- Grill in BBQ preheated to 400 degrees F with lid closed.
- Don’t overcook. Use a digital instant read thermometer to cook them to the right temperature. Cook burgers to an internal temperature of 160 degrees F for a juicy burger
Recipe
- LIGHTLY combine beef, steak spice, onion, shredded cheese and a fresh egg.
- GENTLY form into four 3/4-inch thick patties.
- GRILL over medium-high heat for 10 to 14 minutes, turning twice, until digital rapid-read thermometer inserted sideways into center of each patty reads 160°F (71°C).
Add the flavors that you and your family enjoy! Some examples are:
- Bacon
- Salsa
- Worcestershire sauce
- Cheese
- Onion
- Hot Peppers
Place cooked burger onto a bun. Top with your favourite condiments like:
- Ketchup
- Mustard
- Lettuce
- Pickles
- Hot Sauce
- Cheese
- Bacon
- Mayonnaise
ThinkBeef.ca informs us that Burgers are often misunderstood
“Calorie for calorie, a beef burger is a delicious way to power-up, providing the essential nutrients like iron, zinc, B vitamins and protein. Beef is an excellent source of protein, and like all meat, it is a complete protein with all the amino acids humans (like you) need. With 1 single natural ingredient: beef. No fortification or fabrication required.
Who knew? About half the fat in beef is monounsaturated – the same type of fat found in olive oil!“
